Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between therapy, coaching and mentoring?

Therapy focuses and delves into issues from the past and requires specialized trained therapists who work on understanding the problems and issues as a primary objective.

A coach works with the client to extract the answers to the problems from the clients, the sessions are typically more structured, they will continually ask you questions encouraging you to think differently to old previous thoughts and patterns so you find the solutions within.

The difference between a coach and a mentor is, a mentor will also ask a series of questions to understand the overall picture of what is going on, but has the ability to use their own knowledge to suggest other alternatives that the client has not thought about and they may offer different solutions that may have been unknown to the client.

Both coaches and mentors are very similar as they both focus on the future and obtaining a solution using their values and strengths.  They help the client to plan their own vision for the future and stay with them as they implement the changes needed to achieve the goals, they both help with accountability, holding you accountable for things you say you will do, giving you a nudge if you need that.  The biggest difference is a mentor may suggest ideas and things a coach will not.

Both coaching and mentoring encourage the client to become clear about the direction they are taking and encourage confidence in their own ability to achieve the objective so they are not stuck, procrastinating and stalled in doing what they need to do to achieve their goals.

Why does Lorene call herself a mentor and not a coach?

My biggest skills is my ability to see the whole picture and by using my strategic skills I can see and offer solutions that often others do not see.  While also being trained as a coach, I believe I’m better suited and can give better service to my clients by being able to share my knowledge, insights, expertise and my wisdom, so my clients benefit, develop and grow from my personal knowledge.

How do I know Lorene is the right mentor for me?

A mentor has a close relationship with his/her clients, they build a supportive open-ended connection with one another that can last decades.  My commitment to my clients so that they succeed is really important to me, so if you think you can relate to me, then get in touch and let’s have a conversation to see if I believe I can help you and we will see where we fit.  It is really important to find the right person to work with, so let’s have that conversation.

What are the benefits and what outcomes will I receive from having a session with Lorene?

Your results will be different to other people as we are all individuals with very different drivers and levels of determination to succeed.  We all have different amounts of time we can allocate to our business and our motivation levels are very different too.  So the results we obtain is just as different and diverse as we are.

Your success will be shown by how much determination you have to follow the program, implement any suggestions, your time allocation and the amount of effort you are prepared to put into getting the results.

I believe the results you obtain in all areas of your life is what makes us satisfied and happy, so having a holistic approach to all of life is important.  If you are in agreeance to this, we will use the balance wheel and take look at all the areas of life, making sure they are balanced too.  There is no point working 80 hours a week and not having a great life at the same time.

What is the objective of a mentoring session?

In our mentoring session we’ll work together to help you clarify your path, generate a clear vision and encourage a positive mindset to create your version of a satisfying and fulfilling life and business.  The best part about mentoring is, you will achieve more than you would by working on your own and at a faster pace too, you will also avoide mistakes others make because of collaboration and learning new skills and strategies.  You have an extra person on your team to bounce ideas off and work through which is why we work together for a long period of time.

How often will we have a session?

Mentoring sessions are weekly which allows time for reflection, integration of ideas and learning new skills, it also keeps the momentum going, this is how we achieve the best results.  We will be working together in four, six or twelve month blocks, this allows plenty of time for implementation and results.

Will our sessions be in person or on Zoom?

When I was first introduced to Zoom, I saw the power behind the screen, I conduct all my podcasts using zoom and speak to people all over the world using this platform.  I have built many close relationships and love the time efficiency that it now affords us.  I believe it is a great model, so if you are doubtful, give it a try and you might be surprised.

How long will we work together?

Every program is different and depends upon your needs and budget, I like my clients to make a commitment to work with me for a minimum of a 16 week period so new habits and behaviours will be entrenched, any marketing strategies put in place may have had time to worked and we can see results and measure realistically what has happened.

Realistically I like to work with my clients for 18-24 months or even longer so the results are permanent.  I have always found working with a mentor is the key to obtaining the results I have desired and therefore continually work with many mentors in different areas of my life.

What do we need to do to start working together?

The first thing we will do is have a free discover session where we can discuss what it is you think you need and what we can do for you.  Once you have decided to work with me, I will then send you a mentoring agreement which will outline all the terms of business and the payment details, return this to me and we can organise a time to start your weakly mentoring program.

What if I want to end our mentoring engagement?

You may decide to conclude your mentoring sessions working with me earlier than the original 16-week timeline, although it is not advisable as the full 16 weeks give the best results when applying new strategies.  It is always best to give a few weeks’ notice in order to prepare the final few sessions so we can focus on concluding and a full review of achievements looking at what has worked and the results.

Is mentoring expensive?

Mentoring is an investment in you as it deals with your beliefs and daily actions, it could be the investment that influences not only your direction but also your life path, so it may become a necessity and definitely not a luxury.

My current fees are $195 for a one-hour session or $2,400 for a sixteen-week mentoring program.

Are my sessions confidential?

Absolutely.  I maintain strict confidentiality and will not share any of your business and personal information.  I do not talk about my clients.

Do you only work with women, or can men see you too?

I work with both men and woman in my mentoring, programs and sessions, but my retreats are for woman only.

Do I need to have an established business or can I be just starting out in business to work with Lorene?

No not at all.  I specialise in helping people set up new businesses and I have extensive knowledge and experience in getting new small businesses off the ground.  We can brainstorm all the aspects so you know exactly what to do and how to go about doing it.
